Conventional Bridges

Conventional bridges can be used to replace one or several missing teeth. The bridge is an artificial tooth that is supported by the adjacent teeth.

It is very strong and will last quite a long time if made properly, while maintaining a natural look and sustaining great function. They can only be used if the adjacent teeth are healthy and strong enough to hold the bridge because the adjacent teeth require some filing.

After they are filed, impressions will be taken and sent to the lab where your new bridge will be made. For your final appointment, we will fit your bridge and make sure it is a perfect fit and is colour matched to your adjacent teeth. It is strongly fit into place and provides good aesthetics!

Why should I see a prosthodontist?2026-05-05T20:19:39+10:00

A prosthodontist is a specialist who is registered with the Dental Board of Australia in the field of prosthodontics. They undergo a minimum of three years of full-time advanced training, allowing them to treat complex and difficult cases where your general dentist cannot. The primary roles of a prosthodontist are to diagnose, treat and rehabilitate patients who have lost their teeth or require advance care in oral restorative work. Their services include provision of dentures, veneers, dental implants, inlays, onlays, crowns, bridges and much more.

Differences between prosthodontist and cosmetic dentist2026-05-05T20:20:05+10:00

Since “cosmetic dentistry” is not a recognised dental specialty, a “cosmetic dentist” is a layperson’s description of a general dentist who offers treatments focussed on enhancing the aesthetics of your smile. A prosthodontist is an effective cosmetic dentist possessing advanced expertise and an appropriate educational background in this field.

A prosthodontist also has the requisite skills to coordinate and administer a full mouth reconstruction involving coordination of multiple treatments and different specialties. As the title suggests, prosthodontists further specialise in creating natural and life-like prosthetic devices to replace your missing teeth.
